| Abstract italiano | Con questo articolo si conclude l’analisi, storica ed urbanistica, di “Porta Piemonte” a Susa (Torino, Italia), esplorandone le trasformazioni intervenute dal XVI secolo fino alla demolizione ed alla realizzazione dell’attuale “Piazza del Mercato”: la prima parte dell’analisi, relativa alle origini tardoantiche della Porta, è stata sviluppata nel numero 56/2018 di questa Rivista, alle pagine 282-294. Nell’articolo precedente si era analizzata la parziale scomparsa della Porta tardoan- tica, semisommersa dalle ripetute alluvioni del Rivo Gelassa: solo la Torre sud della Porta era sopravvissuta, per diventare base della “Torre dell’Orologio” della Città. In questo articolo sono lette le ulteriori fasi storiche della Porta: prima essa svolge ancora funzioni militari; poi diventa semplice ornamento urbano all’ingresso della Città; infine – a metà Ottocento – scompare del tutto, per lasciare il posto alla Tettoia del Mercato. Nelle vicende dell’ultima Guerra Mondiale anche la Tettoia del Mercato troverà la sua fine. |
| Abstract francese | Cet article conclut l’analyse historique et urbaine de «Porta Piemonte» à Suse (Turin, Italie): la première partie de l’analyse a été développée dans le numéro 56/2018 de ce magazine, pages 282-294. Dans l’article précédent, la disparition partielle de la Porte de l’Antiquité tardive, à moi- tié submergée par les inondations répétées du Rivo Gelassa, a été analysée: seule la tour sud de la Porte avait survécu, pour devenir la base de la «Tour de l’Horloge» de la ville. Dans cet article, les autres phases historiques de la Porte sont lues: premièrement, elle remplit toujours des fonctions militaires; elle devient alors un simple ornement urbain à l’entrée de la ville; enfin - au milieu du XIXe siècle - elle a complètement disparu pour faire place au Hangar du Marché. Lors des événements de la dernière guerre mondiale, le Hangar du Marché prendra également fin. |
| Abstract inglese | This article concludes the historical and urban analysis of “Porta Piemonte” in Susa (Turin, Italy): the first part of the analysis was developed in issue 56/2018 of this magazine, on pages 282-294. In the previous article, the partial disappearance of the late-ancient gate, half submer- ged by the repeated floods of the Rivo Gelassa, was analyzed: only the south tower of the gate had survived, to become the base of the “Clock Tower” of the city. In this article the further historical phases of the gate are read: first it still performs military functions; then it becomes a simple urban ornament at the entrance to the city; finally - in the mid-nineteenth century - it completely disappeared, to make way for the Market Shed. In the events of the last World War, the Market Shed will also end. |
